During March 2023, days were remained warm over several portions of lowlands of Ethiopia, in particularly Gambela, Afar, Benishangul, Pocket areas Amhara and Oromia. In specific, the extreme maximum temperature values were as high as 43.8, 43.5, 42.2, and 42.0 OC over Gambela, Fugnuido, Gode, and Metema, and Abobo respectively.
During March 2023, the monthly rainfall amount exceeded 200 mm over some parts of eastern Amhara, much portions of SNNPR, southern, central and eastern Oromia, and western Afar with heavier rainfall events occurring over western, Central and Southern parts of the country. In particular, the monthly total rainfall values of March 2023 were as high recorded 252.6, 281.2, 291.3, 286.9, 307.5 and 321.7 mm over Chifra, dalifagi, Moyale Sawula Bui and Bore with value respectively.
In general, the monthly total rainfall amount of March 2023 was normal to above normal over all areas of the country except over northern areas of Afar, Gambela, Benishangulgumuz, western Oromia, Tigray and Amhara (Fig. 3.2.2). March 2023 was generally wetter than March 2022 over much of the country except over some pocket area of Benishangul Gumuz, Western Oromia and Gambela pocket areas. But over Tigray b/c no observation he shows dry signal.
